Games Like The Exit 8: Anomaly Horror to Play Next

The Exit 8 made a simple rule frightening: walk the same corridor again and again, and turn back the moment something is wrong. These games use the same idea, a place you learn by heart and the dread of spotting what has changed, in pubs, factories, trains and on security cameras.

The games

  1. Platform 8 key art: a man in a pale shirt sits on a red bench seat in a bright Japanese train carriage, looking at his phone PsychologicalPlatform 8The same maker and the same rules, on a commuter train that never stops.
  2. Ten Bells screenshot: a bloodied man forces his way out of the pub's wall panelling, holding a brass bell PsychologicalTen BellsWalk an old English pub on a loop and turn back when something has changed, with a story behind it.
  3. The Cabin Factory key art: a log cabin with a lit window standing on a dark factory floor PsychologicalThe Cabin FactoryInspect one log cabin after another and press Danger the moment anything moves; it names The Exit 8 as its model.

  5. CAPTURED 2 camera view framing a glowing grandfather clock in a dim office as an anomaly to capture PsychologicalCAPTURED 2A looping late-90s apartment by flashlight, anomalies to photograph and toy-like creatures with their own rules.
  6. Paragnosia: a dim living room with a sofa, lamps and bookshelves lit by a red glow PsychologicalParagnosiaSteer a camera on a rail through your haunted apartment and photograph each anomaly before the seal breaks.

  11. Anomaly Company art: two crew members in orange hazmat suits, one in a gas mask, inside a blue-lit field hut PsychologicalAnomaly CompanyAnomaly spotting for a crew of up to four, deciding together whether the floor has changed.
  12. That's not my Neighbor key art: two grey clawed hands with red nails pressed against the doorman's window, smeared with blood PsychologicalThat's not my NeighborA door-check game of spotting what is wrong in each visitor's face and papers.

The closest match is Platform 8, from the same maker, KOTAKE CREATE. Instead of a subway passage you are stuck on a commuter train that never stops, and the changes can be as quiet as a different station name. Like The Exit 8 it takes under an hour.

Ten Bells moves the loop to an old English pub: if nothing has changed you go on, if something has you turn back, and its anomalies run from a moved object to a hand reaching out of the wall. The Cabin Factory is a cheap, hour-long variation where you walk through one log cabin after another on a factory floor and decide if each is haunted; its makers name The Exit 8 as their model. CAPTURED 2 loops a late-90s apartment by flashlight, makes you photograph each anomaly, and adds creatures with their own rules.

If you prefer to watch rather than walk, the I'm on Observation Duty series is the long-running version of the idea. You sit through a night shift on security cameras and report every change, from furniture that has moved to intruders; the third game puts you on foot in a haunted house with a phone, and the eighth spreads the night across six places. Paranormal Night Shift sets the same camera job in a haunted 1980s London home, and Paragnosia gives you a camera on a rail through your own haunted apartment, with a seal that weakens for every anomaly you miss.

Dollmare turns spotting into a job: you inspect dolls on a factory line, pass the normal ones and get rid of the ones that do what dolls should not. That's not my Neighbor is the door-check cousin, comparing each visitor's face and papers to catch the doppelgangers. Anomaly Company makes it social: up to four friends memorise an office or hotel floor and decide together whether anything has changed.

Start with Platform 8 if you want more of exactly the same, Ten Bells for a longer loop with a story, and I'm on Observation Duty if you want to sit still and stare.
