What frightens You take over your late father's photo studio and serve strange customers, framing their portraits, developing film and printing orders, while things that do not seem quite right appear in the shop, in the photos and on the security camera, and every picture you take brings you closer to something the store keeps redacted.

Content: jumpscares.

Photomaly is a PSX-style first-person horror game about running a photo studio. You photograph customers, develop and print their orders and upgrade the shop, while strange visitors and wrong details in the pictures pull you toward a secret behind the business.

About Photomaly

Photomaly is by Revira Interactive and published by Alibi Games, released on Steam in July 2026. You take over the photography studio your father left behind, a small room of yellow wallpaper, a counter, a desk fan and an old computer.

The work is the game. Customers come in with requests such as a passport photo; you find the angle in the studio, take the shot, develop the film under the right conditions, set up the print size and copies on the computer and hand the order to the right person. With your profits you buy better equipment and decorate the studio with prints on the walls.

Something is not right, though. The store asks you to keep an eye out for what does not belong and not to pry too deep into your patrons, a security camera shows the alley outside, and some customers, like a figure in a gas mask and a yellow suit, are not what they seem. With every photo taken you get closer to a secret the store hides behind redactions.

Players describe it as an anomaly game, sorting the human customers from the ones that are not, with good scares among goofy customers, though many disliked a later section set in a Backrooms-like place. It suits players who like shift-work horror such as Kiosk or I'm on Observation Duty.

How to play Photomaly

  1. Open the studio and greet each customer at the counter.
  2. Take their photo in the studio, finding the right angle and zoom.
  3. Develop the film and set up the print size, colour and copies on the computer.
  4. Hand each finished order to the right customer.
  5. Watch customers, photos and the security camera for anything that is not right.
  6. Spend your profits on upgrades and decorations between days.

Tips

  • Check the security camera between customers; the alley shows what is coming.
  • Look at each print before you hand it over, since the wrong details can hide in the photo.
  • Keep your paper and ink stocked so a busy day does not stall.
