What frightens The maker's premise: the person sitting across from you is just like your spouse in every way that matters, but you know better, because nothing dead ever comes back the right way, and they are hiding something from you. In an empty diner under crackling fluorescent lights you talk, choose what to believe and what to give away, with the maker warning of descriptions of corpses, gore and violence.

Content: descriptions of corpses, gore, violence, text effects.

Rabbit Starvation is a free horror interactive fiction played in the browser. In an empty diner late at night you sit across from someone who is just like your dead spouse, and you know that nothing dead comes back right. It is still in development, with more of the story to come.

About Rabbit Starvation

Rabbit Starvation is a text-based horror game by vileidol, made in Twine and first released on itch.io in November 2023, with updates in 2024. It is free to play in the browser. Its line is that in the right circumstances you can starve to death on a full stomach.

The diner is empty, silent but for the crackle of the fluorescent lights and sounds from the kitchen. The person across from you, Cameron, who can be a man, a woman or nonbinary, smiles the way your spouse did and has the same warm voice. But your spouse is dead. You know there is no such thing as a miracle, and you know they are hiding something. You are hiding something too.

You play by reading and clicking: some words change when you click them, and your answers decide how you treat Cameron, whether you play along, push back or stay cold. The horror is quiet and close, made of grief, suspicion and small wrong details, and the maker warns of descriptions of corpses, gore and violence.

It is unfinished: the current version stops at a demo end on some routes, and the maker has said the next part is being written. It suits players who like short, well-written interactive fiction more than jumpscares.
