SIMULACRA 2 is made by Kaigan Games, the studio behind Sara is Missing and the first SIMULACRA. It came out on iPhone and iPad in December 2019 and on PC through Steam in January 2020.

Maya, an influencer on the rise, has been found dead, and her cause of death seems unnatural. Her phone appears to have been wiped on purpose. A detective who suspects foul play gives it to you for an investigation that is not officially sanctioned. A police program called WARDEN helps you restore what was deleted.

Everything happens on the phone: her messages, a group chat of friends who do not all trust each other, her photo gallery, her social apps and her videos, played by live actors. You reply to people, recover files and piece together the last days of her life. The story is non-linear, with many possible outcomes depending on what you find and how you answer.

The horror is quiet and digital: corrupted photos, a face that tears apart into static, and the sense that something is lurking in her online life and could strike again. It suits players who liked the first SIMULACRA, and anyone who enjoys found-footage mysteries more than monsters.

How to play SIMULACRA 2

1. Open Maya's phone and go through her apps: messages, media, social media and more.
2. Use WARDEN to restore deleted files and corrupted images.
3. Reply in chats with her friends; your answers change what they tell you.
4. Piece the clues together to decide what happened to Maya, and reach one of the many outcomes.
