On PC: one of the PC horror games.

What frightens You wake as the lone surviving scientist of a research facility on a remote planet, where the central AI has micro-chipped and reactivated the dead staff as combatants among other monsters; seen from above with only your line of sight lit, you walk dark corridors and enter each new room hoping your last few rounds will be enough, and death is permanent.

Content: violence.

Teleglitch: Die More Edition is a top-down roguelike survival shooter in retro pixel art. As the last scientist alive in a corporate research facility on a remote planet, you scavenge, craft and fight through randomly built levels of reactivated dead and monsters, with permanent death.

About Teleglitch: Die More Edition

Teleglitch was made by Test3 Projects, and the Die More Edition was published by Paradox Interactive in July 2013. It adds five bonus levels, more items and weapons, deadlier enemy AI and more lore to the original game.

In a cold, dark future run by mega-corporations, a research facility on a small planet at the edge of habitable space specialises in reactivating necrotic tissue. You are a scientist who wakes to find you are the only survivor: the rest of the staff have been killed, micro-chipped and reactivated as combatants by the facility's central AI.

It is a roguelike seen from above, with ten levels whose layout changes every time you play. You see only what lies in your line of sight, so the rest of each map stays black. You scavenge random equipment and combine junk into weapons, such as a can gun made from an empty can, nails and explosives, and the store promises over 20 kinds of enemies and more than 40 weapons and items. A database fills with dossiers on each monster as you meet it. Death is permanent, which the store says is meant to build an atmosphere of fear and dread.

It is hard and gets harder the further you go, and the store counts more than ten hours of play. Its pixel art is very low resolution, which some players find hard to read. It suits players who want survival horror tension in a punishing roguelike.

How to play Teleglitch: Die More Edition

  1. Wake in the facility and pick up whatever weapons and supplies are near you.
  2. Move room by room, watching the edge of your line of sight for movement.
  3. Scavenge every container for ammunition, medkits and parts.
  4. Combine parts into new weapons and gear when you have the pieces.
  5. Reach the exit of each level; the layout changes every run.
  6. When you die, start again from the beginning with what you have learned.

Tips

  • Count your rounds before you open a door; the store warns the last few may have to be enough.
  • Keep cans, nails and explosives, since they make some of the best crafted weapons.
  • Read the monster dossiers in the database to learn how each enemy moves.
