What frightens A film club shoots a horror movie at night in a haunted university building, and the old campus ghost story turns out to be real. Ghosts such as the long-limbed Mad Ballerina hunt you by sound through dark, flooded, blood-stained corridors, and you can only hide, stay silent and distract them.

Content: blood and gore, violence, strong language.

The Bridge Curse 2: The Extrication is a first-person survival horror game from Softstar Entertainment set in Taiwan's Wen Hua University. A reporter and three students are trapped in a haunted building during a night shoot, and you take turns as each of them, hiding from ghosts, solving puzzles and uncovering a conspiracy.

About The Bridge Curse 2: The Extrication

The Bridge Curse 2: The Extrication is a first-person horror game from the Taiwanese studio Softstar Entertainment, published by PQube and Gamirror Games. It came to Steam in May 2024, is also on PlayStation, Xbox and Switch, and follows the earlier The Bridge Curse: Road to Salvation with a new story at the same university.

Wen Hua University is known across Taiwan for its ghost stories. To recruit new members, the film club stages a 'Carnival of Horror' in the infamously haunted Da Ren building and sets out to film a viral horror movie based on an old campus mystery. Once the cameras roll, the line between the film and reality slips, and the night becomes something they have to survive.

You play four people in turn: Sue Lian, a news reporter chasing a story, and three students caught in the nightmare. The ghosts are hunters, and the building carries every sound, so you creep, hide and use sacred objects to pull their attention away. Between chases you search rooms for clues and items, read the papers and tapes left behind and solve puzzles that open the way forward.

The fear comes from the ghosts and the place: long dark corridors under flickering light, flooded floors and blood on the tiles, and figures like the Mad Ballerina who move in ways people should not. The makers rate it for frequent violence and gore, and the PlayStation Store lists blood, gore and strong language.

It suits players who like hiding from ghosts rather than fighting them, and anyone drawn to Asian ghost stories in the vein of Detention or White Day.

How to play The Bridge Curse 2: The Extrication

  1. Take control of each character in turn as the story moves between them.
  2. Explore the dark halls of the Da Ren building and search rooms for clues, notes and items.
  3. When a ghost hunts you, move quietly, break line of sight and hide until it passes.
  4. Use sacred objects to draw a ghost's attention away from your path.
  5. Solve the puzzles and locks you find to reach new areas and escape the building.

Tips

  • Walk rather than run when a ghost is near; the halls carry every sound.
  • Look over every item you pick up, since clues often hide in the details.
  • Learn where the hiding places are in each area before you need them.
