What frightens Guests in a quarantined luxury hotel slowly lose their minds and turn into deformed creatures, and the same alien influence starts to work on you. You walk dark, blood-smeared corridors full of bodies, talk to people and monsters where one wrong word can get you killed, hide or run from the ones you cannot reason with, and try to tell your hallucinations from what is really there.

Content: blood and dead bodies, jumpscares, blurred nudity, mentions of self-harm and depictions of suicide, strong language, alcohol use.

The Inn-Sanity is a first-person psychological horror game set in the early 1990s. You check into a luxury hotel for one night, the city outside falls apart, and under quarantine the other guests start turning into deranged creatures. What you say to them, and who you decide to trust, shapes how the night ends.

About The Inn-Sanity

The Inn-Sanity is a first-person horror adventure from Steppe Hare Studio, released on Steam for Windows in January 2025. It is set in the early 1990s. You arrive at a luxury hotel meaning to stay a single night, but by morning the city has become a den of deformed monsters, a quarantine has been announced and the hotel has turned into a prison for everyone inside it.

Most of the game is talking and walking. You move through the hotel's rooms, corridors, bar and car park, speak with the other survivors and decide what to tell them. Each guest hides a dark secret, and so does the person you play. Some of them can become friends, some enemies and one may become something more. The guests who have already turned are each different, and the store page says different approaches work against different ones: you can hide, run or try to reach what is left of their humanity.

The horror is slow and personal more than loud. The screenshots show blood-soaked rooms, bodies, a creature leaning out of a dark corridor and a nightmare passage lined with old television sets, and the game mixes in alien dreams and hallucinations that you have to sort out from what is happening. Players also mention a few jump scares. The story has multiple endings, and your words decide whether you get out, and whether you are still human when you do.

It suits players who like story-led horror built on choices and conversation, in the spirit of interactive dramas, rather than combat or resource management. It is a single-player game with full English voice acting, and it is also playable in Russian and Simplified Chinese.

How to play The Inn-Sanity

  1. Buy and install The Inn-Sanity from its Steam page (Windows only).
  2. Start a new game; you arrive at the hotel for what should be a one-night stay.
  3. Explore the hotel in first person and talk to the other guests, choosing your replies with care.
  4. When a guest has turned, decide whether to hide, run or try to talk them back to their humanity.
  5. Keep track of who you trust; your choices lead to one of several endings.

Tips

  • Go in knowing as little as possible; players who recommend it say the story works best blind.
  • Think before you answer a guest who is starting to slip; the store page warns that your words decide whether you survive.
  • Not every monster is handled the same way, so if hiding fails with one, try another approach next time.
  • Since the endings depend on your choices, a second run with different answers shows more of the story.
