What frightens Interactive fiction about being stalked by some thing: when she walks, she walks alone, yet she can still feel it beside her. Told over dithered black-and-white photos of an ordinary flat and life, it builds on that sense of being followed, and the maker warns of stalking, spiders, animal death, possible human death and paranoia.

Content: stalking, spiders, animal death, death, strong language.

Y O U is a free browser piece of interactive fiction by The Horned Sphinx about a lonely woman who feels something following her. Told in dithered black-and-white photos and short lines of text, it builds from everyday routine into paranoia, and many players call its ending both horrific and heartbreaking.

About Y O U

Y O U is a short piece of interactive fiction by The Horned Sphinx, made in the Decker tool for the Deck-Month 2 jam, which ran through December 2024, and released on itch.io at the start of 2025. It plays in the browser, and the maker states that no generative AI was used.

You play a woman late for a job she hates, in a cluttered flat, living a life with little in it. As her days go on she becomes sure that something is stalking her. She walks alone, but she can still feel it beside her. The game shows her world in grainy, dithered black-and-white photographs with short lines of text and a few choices to click.

The horror is the slow build of being watched by a presence she cannot pin down. The maker warns of stalking, spiders, animal death, possible human death and paranoia. Players in the comments describe it as horrific, tragic and heartbreaking at once, and several say it moved them to tears.

It is a quiet, literary horror story rather than a game of scares, and it suits players who like short browser fiction such as a man outside or my father's long, long legs.
