What frightens Tom, your imaginary friend since grade school, whispers in your ear through a dinner date and tells you exactly what to say. When the date stops going his way his voice turns cruel, then he tears his way out of your body, beats you and shuts you in a closet for daring to think you might be trans. The maker warns of body horror, internalized homophobia and transphobia.

Content: body horror, violence, slurs, transphobia, homophobia, strong language.

A free text horror story by Kastel, played in the browser. Your imaginary friend Tom coaches you through a dinner date, and when you start to stray from his advice and from who he says you are, he stops being a voice in your head. Four endings.

About I Got You

I Got You is a short piece of interactive fiction by Kastel, written in ink and made for ECTOCOMP 2025's La Petite Mort category. It is free to play in the browser on itch.io, and the maker says no generative AI was used. The maker states it placed 5th in La Petite Mort (English) and 2nd for Best Use of Short Form in the Short Games Showcase 2025.

It opens as a pep talk. Tom is excited that you got a second date after a disastrous first one, scouts a beach shack with you, and promises to whisper in your ear all evening. You choose what to say to your date, Molly, and Tom grades every line: too formal, too flamboyant, too much like talking to a buddy.

The horror is who Tom turns out to be. He is the friend you have had since grade school, and as the date drifts toward talk of gender, his support sours into mockery and threats. In the darkest path he forces his way out of your body, hits you and locks you in a closet until you agree to delete her number. The story is plain text on a white page with no pictures, so all of it lands through his words.

The maker warns of body horror, internalized homophobia and transphobia, and the text includes slurs and violence. Players on itch.io rate it 4.8 out of 5 and call it painful to read in places. It suits readers of short, choice-driven horror about abusive relationships, where the abuser is a voice you cannot leave behind.
