Backseat is a first-person psychological horror game by HOGO Games about a night taxi driver. To get your kidnapped wife back you obey a voice called BK26, picking up dangerous strangers, questioning them carefully, profiling them in a logbook and digging through databases, while one wrong move can end the ride.

Your wife has been kidnapped. To get her back you must obey BK26: drive a taxi through the night, pick up the strangers you are sent and learn what they know. The people who sit behind you are killers, thieves, fraudsters and unstable strangers, and you see them mostly in the rear-view mirror, on dark forest roads and at lonely petrol stations.

Each ride is a careful conversation. You choose your words, watch for signs such as eye contact, delusions or talk of rituals, and tick them off in a logbook until you can name what your passenger is. A computer in the cab lets you search databases and the deep web for the detail that keeps you alive, perhaps even how to defuse the bomb under your car. Push too hard and the passenger turns on you; leave a clue behind, like a mallet on the back seat, and you must decide what to do with it before you report in.

The store warns of occasional violence and strong language. Players are mixed to positive. It suits players who liked That's not my Neighbor or Night Bus and want a night job where reading people is the whole game.

How to play Backseat

Buy and install Backseat from Steam and start your first night.
Drive to each pickup BK26 sends you and let the passenger in.
Ask questions carefully and watch the passenger's behaviour in the mirror, without provoking them.
Mark what you notice in your logbook and use the cab computer to search for what they are hiding.
Deliver the passenger, send your notes and decide how far to obey BK26 to reach your wife.
