What frightens Night-shift attendant Dan Cooper serves customers and answers calls at a remote Ohio gas station in 1999 while people begin to vanish in the surrounding woods, after a friend finds a mysterious case by the lake; stolen uranium fuel, a blood-covered coworker and alien creatures turn the cozy station into a deadly trap. The store mentions jumpscares and offers a mode for players who fear them.
Content: jumpscares, blood.
[HERROR] Gas Station Case is a short first-person horror game set at a remote Ohio gas station in 1999. You work the night shift, serving customers and answering calls, while a case found by the lake brings disappearances, stolen uranium and something alien to your door.
About [HERROR] Gas Station Case
[HERROR] Gas Station Case is the first episode of [HERROR], an anthology of short horror stories in which ordinary work routines collide with paranormal threats. It came out on Steam in August 2026 from the studio of the same name, and each episode is meant to stand alone, connected to the others by tone rather than plot.
You play Dan Cooper, 25, recently laid off from a uranium plant and now working nights at a gas station in rural Ohio. The shift is a small job simulation: you serve customers, answer the phone and keep the place running. Then your friend Michael finds a mysterious briefcase by the lake, people start to disappear in the woods, a coworker turns up covered in blood, and the cozy station becomes a trap.
It plays mainly as a first-person narrative walking simulator with exploration, work and dialogue choices, and the makers name Fears to Fathom and Chilla's Art as inspirations. The look is late-1990s small-town America under a light VHS tape filter. The store warns of jumpscares and offers an optional Silent Screamers mode for players who want the atmosphere and story without them.
The full chapter takes about 90 to 120 minutes and is meant to be played in one sitting, which makes it a good evening's horror for fans of short, story-led games about a job that goes wrong.
