What frightens Four survivors search dark cursed places for keys and items and solve puzzles to escape while a fifth player hunts them as a monster with its own powers; the built-in voice chat carries your voice into the level, and the monster can hear you.

Content: jumpscares, online voice chat.

Damned 2 is an asymmetric multiplayer horror game for PC by 9heads Game Studios. Four survivors search cursed buildings for keys and solve puzzles to escape while a fifth player hunts them as a monster, and the in-game voice chat lets the monster hear anyone who talks too loudly.

About Damned 2

Damned 2 is the 2025 sequel to Damned (2016), a small asymmetric horror game whose players had waited years for more. It is made by 9heads Game Studios in Unreal Engine 5 and published by Nuntius Games, and it keeps the original's idea: one player is the nightmare, everyone else is trying to get out.

Up to four survivors enter a cursed location, such as a dark building of offices and storerooms or a tiled morgue, and must find keys and items and solve the puzzles that open the way out. Keys, items and puzzles move to new places every match, so you cannot learn one route. The fifth player picks a monster, each with its own abilities: some stalk silently, others spread confusion. If you do not have five people, the computer can play the monster.

The fear comes from the voice chat as much as the monster. The game's built-in voice echoes with the rooms around you, and the monster can hear survivors who talk while it hunts, so a whispered plan in a dark corridor can give you away. Players on Steam praise how well it scares a group of friends, while some find the controls awkward at first.

It suits a group who enjoy Dead by Daylight or White Noise 2 and want something smaller, darker and more focused on escape puzzles than on long chases.

How to play Damned 2

  1. Buy Damned 2 on Steam and gather up to five players, or let the computer play the monster.
  2. Choose to be a survivor or pick one of the monsters before the match.
  3. As a survivor, search the level for keys and items and solve the puzzles that open the exit.
  4. Keep your voice down near the monster: it can hear survivors over the voice chat.
  5. As the monster, use your powers to track and catch every survivor before they escape.

Tips

  • Split up to search faster, but keep in voice range so you can warn each other.
  • Learn each monster's powers by playing it once; it makes you a better survivor.
  • Items move every match, so check every room rather than following last game's route.

Questions

Can you play Damned 2 solo?
