About Discover My Body

Discover My Body is a small horror game by Yames, uploaded to itch.io in 2020 for Windows, Mac and Linux, at a price you name. It opens on a premise rather than a monster: in the year 2040, people who distrust the institutions that once brought them together look to technology and science for answers, and for some sense of community.

What you do is scan. A grainy pixel-art face watches from the top of the screen while you sweep a scanner over a body below, switching between topical, skeletal and nervous views to look beneath the skin and finding things with names like the primordial inhibitor. A meter at the side fills as you go.

The pictures are low resolution and noisy, which keeps you leaning in to make out what you are looking at. The maker's warning is plain: there is body horror, and there are loud screams, so it is worth keeping the volume reasonable.

It takes only minutes. It suits players who like short, strange horror built on one unsettling idea, and anyone who played Water Womb World and wants more of Yames' clinical, quasi-religious tone.
