What frightens By day your group fishes a quiet valley lake to fill an offering for an ancient monster beneath it; if the offering is short when darkness falls, the creature comes out and hunts you, the cabin will not keep you safe, and it grows more aggressive with each failed offering.

Content: monsters, jumpscares.

GONE Fishing is a first-person co-op survival horror game for one to eight players. Your group catches fish and bait by day to fill an altar offering for an ancient creature in the lake; fall short before night and the creature emerges to hunt you.

About GONE Fishing

GONE Fishing is an Early Access game by GONE Studios, released on Steam in June 2025. One to eight players share a valley around a lake with a cabin, an altar and a lot of fish.

The days are calm. You hunt live bait such as frogs, worms, spiders and bats, cast your line, set the hook at the right moment and reel carefully so the line does not snap. Bigger bait brings bigger fish. Every catch can go to the altar as an offering to the creature in the lake, or into the basket of a balloon trader who floats in at midday and sells upgrades and totems.

The horror comes at nightfall. If the group has not offered enough fish, the creature rises from the lake and hunts you. The store says plainly that the cabin will not keep you safe and running will not either; only a full offering delays it, and it grows more aggressive with each failed offering. Screenshots show a hunched, wide-mouthed creature lit by a lantern, a foggy flooded forest and a body hanging over the water.

Players describe it as a mix of peaceful fishing and real fright, often with silly moments in a big group, and praise how often it is updated. It suits a group of friends who want something calmer between scares than most co-op horror, with a deadline that turns every fishing trip into a race against dark.

How to play GONE Fishing

  1. Gather bait around the lake: frogs, worms, spiders, bats and more, each reacting to you differently.
  2. Equip bait from your inventory, hold the left mouse button to cast, and click when a fish bites to set the hook.
  3. Hold to reel in while watching the tension: too much snaps the line, too little lets the fish go.
  4. Drop fish on the altar to fill the lake's offering before night falls.
  5. Sell spare fish to the balloon trader at midday for upgrades and totems.
  6. If the offering falls short, survive the night as the creature hunts you.

Tips

  • Fill the offering first and sell to the trader second; an empty altar at dusk is what brings the creature out.
  • Big fish want big bait, so spend time hunting good bait early in the day.
  • Do not count on the cabin as a shelter; the store says it will not keep you safe.
