What frightens Chasing your service dog down a storm drain, you crawl into sewers, tunnels, abandoned subway cars and stranger places that keep closing in around you. The fear is claustrophobia and the dark, and the deeper you go the more twisted the spaces and their inhabitants become.

Content: violence, frequent scary imagery, suggestive themes.

Lost in Vivo is a first-person horror game about claustrophobia by KIRA, the maker of Spooky's Jump Scare Mansion. When a storm sweeps your service dog into a broken sewer drain you go in after it, and the tunnels lead somewhere far worse.

About Lost in Vivo

Lost in Vivo was made by KIRA and released on Steam in 2018. Its maker describes it simply as a horror game about claustrophobia, and it is built around tight, dark, enclosed places.

During a storm, your service dog is forced down a broken drain. You find the nearest sewer entrance and follow. The way leads through brick sewer pipes, rock tunnels, an abandoned subway train and a forgotten underground office, and from there into places that make less and less sense.

Along the way you meet others trapped by abnormal or psychological fears. You may be able to help them, or free yourself, or neither. The retro, grainy look, narrow spaces and long silences make the descent oppressive, and the game's imagery grows increasingly disturbing.

It suits players who like slow, oppressive horror and fans of KIRA's other games, though anyone who struggles with tight spaces should know what it is about.

How to play Lost in Vivo

  1. Follow your dog into the sewer from the storm drain.
  2. Explore the tunnels in first person with your light.
  3. Search the spaces you pass through for items and a way onward.
  4. Deal with what you meet: help those you can, avoid what you cannot.
  5. Keep going deeper to find your dog and a way out; your choices shape the ending.
