About Not Alone

The hero of Not Alone likes exploring abandoned places. This time he takes only a flashlight and goes into an abandoned hospital that no one knows about. He soon learns he is not the only one inside.

You play in first person in tiled wards, offices and a dining hall lit by flickering strip lights and your torch's beam. Chairs lie knocked over, papers hang on the walls and doors are held shut with combination locks. Far down a dark corridor, a figure stands in a lit doorway.

There is no fighting. You lean round corners with Q and E, crouch, and climb under a table or bed to hide when you need to. Doors are opened by holding the use button and pulling the mouse, which makes every door a slow, tense moment. Whether you survive and get out is up to you.

N4bA released it free on Game Jolt in 2018, where it has gathered more than two thousand followers. It is not the 2024 Steam game of the same name by another studio. It suits players who like small, free hide-and-escape horror such as I See You or Eyes: The Horror Game.

How to play Not Alone

Download the free Windows build from Game Jolt and unzip it.
Turn on your flashlight with F and explore the hospital.
Open doors by holding the left mouse button and pulling the mouse left or right.
Crouch with Ctrl and climb under a table or bed to hide when you hear it coming.
Find the way to unlock the doors ahead and get out.

Tips

Lean round corners with Q and E before you step into a corridor.
Note any numbers you find; doors are held by combination locks.
If the game runs slowly, lower the resolution and turn off post-processing in the menu, as the maker suggests.
Know where the nearest bed or table is before you open the next door.
