What frightens An ordinary day at a bright open-plan office, with meetings, tasks and chatty co-workers, slowly turns wrong: a dark floor marked Human Resources, a locked storage door with a strange smell and blood on the floor, and violence you have to do to make it through the day.

Content: blood, violence, injury.

OVERTIME is a short, free low-poly horror office sim by Turnip_liker, made solo in ten days for Scream Jam 2021. You work through a day of meetings and troublesome co-workers in a first-person office that grows darker and bloodier as the tasks go on. It takes about 20 minutes.

About OVERTIME

OVERTIME is a demo by the solo developer Turnip_liker, made over the ten days of Scream Jam 2021 and released free for Windows on itch.io. Its maker has since said they are working toward a full game.

It presents itself as a first-person office sim. You have a task list in the corner of the screen: attend the meeting, return to your office, go to the floor where logistics and internals sit. The office is a bright, open-plan maze of cubicles, corridors and stairwells, and your co-workers are a talkative lot, from the colleague who swears his blue screen means the PC is working to the ones players single out by name in the comments.

The horror creeps in through the routine. Corridors darken, a wall reads Human Resources at the end of a black hall, a locked storage door gives off a strange smell and there is blood on the floor beneath it. The maker warns of low-resolution blood, injury and violence, and the game's own pitch is about doing what you have to do to make it through another day.

A playthrough takes about 20 minutes. It suits players who like short horror where an ordinary workplace goes wrong, and who enjoy strong, odd characters as much as scares.

How to play OVERTIME

  2. Move with WASD, crouch with C and sprint with Shift.
  3. Follow the task list in the corner of the screen, from meeting to meeting.
  4. Talk to your co-workers and explore each floor as the day goes on.
