Cursed 3 is the final chapter of the Cursed trilogy, made by one developer as Disaster Squad Productions and released free on Steam in October 2022. The series began with Cursed, a game made in one week in 2009, and Cursed 2 in 2019; both are told in the same blunt, hand-drawn pixel style, inspired by old first-person point-and-click horror adventures.

In 2009 Jennifer was lost in an abandoned mineshaft and came back changed. In 2019 her friend Randall stopped an evil cult that tried to raise a demon. Now, in 2022, Jennifer cannot rest: she wants to know why all of this happened to her and how her family is tied to the ancient past. She goes alone to her great-grandparents' abandoned house, where her father grew up, and finds far more than she wanted.

This time Jennifer is the one you play. You look around each room in first person, turning a full 360 degrees, and move through the house in any order you like. Combat now happens in real time in the same view, so when something hideous comes at you, you can fight it or run. You carry up to four items for quick swaps, find weapons and get better with them, raise Jennifer's stats, and cast more than ten spells by drawing sigils. The maker promises over a dozen boss fights, harder puzzles than before and around 30 minutes of cutscenes.

The horror is in the grotesque creatures, the decaying house and the cult's history coming to light, more than in quiet dread. It suits players who like retro horror adventures with some fight in them, and anyone who played the first two Cursed games. It can be played without them, but the story builds on theirs.

How to play Cursed 3

1. Download Cursed 3 free from Steam or itch.io and start a new game.
2. Click around each room to look, pick up items and move on; turn to see the whole room.
3. Open the inventory to equip up to four items for quick swaps and to spend stat points.
4. When a creature attacks, fight it with a weapon or a drawn spell, or get away.
5. Watch your stamina; rest when it runs low, then keep exploring the house in any order.

Tips

• Search every room in full: the house is non-linear and items found early solve puzzles later.
• Use the same weapons often; your mastery of each one grows with use.
• Set your quick slots before opening a new door, so the right weapon is ready.
• Play Cursed and Cursed 2 first if you want the whole story; both are free on Steam.
