Comatose is a first-person retro survival horror game by Lucky Dart, in Early Access on Steam. As Laura you explore a deserted, foggy town inside your own unconscious mind, scavenging scarce supplies, solving memory puzzles and fighting the monsters that haunt it.

About Comatose

Comatose is a story-driven survival horror game in first person, developed by Lucky Dart and published by The Bueno Interactive. It entered Early Access on Steam in June 2026.

Laura is trapped inside a spiral within her own mind, and the only way back to the living is through it. Her unconscious takes the shape of a deserted town under heavy fog: empty plazas, a white chapel at the end of a street, a dim bar with a pool table, brick tunnels lit by single lamps. Monsters roam it, and supplies are scarce.

Play follows the old survival horror pattern in first person. You find weapons such as a shotgun and fight back, but ammunition and healing are limited, so you choose when to fight. Puzzles block the way: some answers sit in plain sight, others need pieces of Laura's lost memories before a door will open. As she remembers more, the town changes and grows more corrupted.

The store warns that the story deals with domestic violence, sexual abuse, childhood trauma and loss. Nothing explicit is shown, but these themes run through the whole narrative. It suits players who want a Silent Hill-style walk through someone's guilt and pain with first-person combat.

How to play Comatose

  1. Explore the foggy town and search buildings for supplies and weapons.
  2. Fight the monsters you must and avoid the ones you can, keeping track of your ammunition.
  3. Read what you find and collect Laura's memories.
  4. Use those memories and clues to solve the puzzles that open new areas.
  5. Keep going deeper as the town changes around you.

Tips

  • Search every room: supplies are scarce and the store promises they stay that way.
  • Do not empty your gun on every monster; save ammunition for the ones blocking your path.
  • When a puzzle seems unsolvable, look for a memory you have not yet found.
  • The game is in Early Access, so expect changes between updates.
