What frightens Sister Madeline, the evil nun, is back in a bigger school, and now she keeps monsters: pale, bird-headed creatures with rows of teeth. Every noise you make can bring her or them to you, so you creep through the rooms, hide, and run when one spots you.

Content: jumpscares, cartoon violence.

The second Evil Nun game from Keplerians, free on iPhone and Android. You are trapped in a bigger school with Sister Madeline and her new monsters, and you hide, solve puzzles and craft traps and weapons to escape while learning about her dark past.

About Evil Nun 2: Origins

Evil Nun 2: Origins is the sequel to Keplerians' Evil Nun, released on the App Store in December 2020 and also on Google Play. Sister Madeline is back, and this time the game also tells something of her past: one of its story scenes shows her meeting a masked ice cream man on a street outside the school.

It plays in first person on touch controls. The school is bigger than before, with more rooms and secret places, from a chapel with a red carpet to a big hall with a staircase and classrooms. You explore it, solve puzzles and gather what you need to escape, while staying silent: the store warns that Madeline and her monsters will hear you. The monsters are new, pale creatures with bird-like heads and rows of teeth, and the store's advice is to run whenever you see one.

Unlike the first game, you can also fight back a little. You craft weapons from plans you find, and traps that hold the monsters, though hiding is still described as the key to survival. The store warns that it is not a game for young children and that it will make you jump.

Compared with Evil Nun, it adds the monsters, crafting and a larger map to the same hide-and-escape idea. It suits players who finished the first game and want more of Sister Madeline and her school.

How to play Evil Nun 2: Origins

  1. Start the game and explore the school quietly, listening for Sister Madeline and her monsters.
  2. Search the rooms for items, plans and clues.
  3. Solve the puzzles that open locked areas and the way out.
  4. Craft weapons and traps from what you find to defend yourself.
  5. Hide or run whenever Madeline or a monster sees you, and escape the school.
