What frightens You wake in a vintage hospital at night, tethered to an IV stand you cannot let disconnect; as the drip slows your vision fades, the empty halls warp and decay each day, and footsteps tell you an unknown hunter is roaming the floors.

Content: medical themes, blood.

InVein is a free first-person horror game by SlowDrip Studios, a student team. You wake in a vintage hospital tethered to an IV stand, with no memory of who you are, and must drag it through dark, decaying halls, finding new IV bags and notes while avoiding something that walks the floors.

About InVein

InVein is a short horror game made by SlowDrip Studios and published on Steam in May 2026 by the Student Game Developer Association. It is free, and its makers note that every asset in it was made by the team during development.

You wake in a vintage hospital room connected to a strange IV stand, unsure who you are or why you are there. All you know is that if the IV disconnects you will not last long. You push through the doors in the middle of the night and find no one at all. As the drip slows, your vision starts to fade, the room begins to warp, and you hear footsteps nearby.

Play is first-person exploration with a clock built into it. You drag the IV stand through checkered corridors, wards and offices, search drawers and cabinets, and swap in replacement IV bags when the pump warns you, so every route is a choice about time and supplies. Notes left behind help you recover your memory and learn what happened at the clinic. Each day the building decays further, and an unknown hunter roams the floors, so you keep out of its way.

The makers warn that the game deals with medical anxiety. Players on Steam rate it highly for its look and its IV idea, and it suits anyone who wants a free, compact hospital horror with a survival twist.

How to play InVein

  1. Download it free from Steam and start a new game.
  2. Move through the hospital in first person, dragging your IV stand with you.
  3. Watch the IV pump: when it warns you, press R to swap in a replacement bag if you carry one.
  4. Search drawers and rooms for IV bags, notes and items, and solve the puzzles in your way.
  5. Read the notes to piece together who you are, and keep away from whatever is walking the halls.

Tips

  • Pick up every spare IV bag you see; running dry ends the run.
  • Plan your route before you set out, since time spent wandering drains the drip.
  • When you hear footsteps, find a place to hide before moving on.
