Content: gore and blood, dental and surgical torture, jumpscares.

Killer Escape 2: The Surgery is a free point-and-click horror escape game by Psionic, released on Newgrounds in 2013 and still playable in the browser. Straight after escaping the first game's killer, you climb into a blood-soaked surgery run by a second psychopath and have to find a way out again.

About Killer Escape 2

Killer Escape 2: The Surgery is the second of Psionic's (Psionic3D) Flash escape games, released on Newgrounds in August 2013, a few months after Killer Escape. It was front-paged and took Daily 3rd Place, and Newgrounds still runs it for free in the browser.

It starts where the first game ended. In the maker's words, you escaped from The Burner and climbed a ladder to the level above, where a blood-soaked floor and doors marked The Surgery leave you no choice but to go on. JayIsGames sums up what waits there: you stumble through the ruined building looking for help and end up strapped into a dentist's chair while rusty tools come at your face.

Play is first-person point-and-click, scene by scene. You search the rooms for hidden items and clues, combine them, read files that fill in the killer's past and the company behind the building, and work out codes. A computer terminal answers typed questions, and players single it out as the hardest part. There are medals to earn.

JayIsGames found it more atmospheric than the first game, with fewer of its random item placements and awkward mouse puzzles, a jump scare, a creepy backstory and a thoroughly unsettling villain, but also a finicky text parser, small items that blend into the background and fewer puzzles that need real thought. It ends on a cliffhanger that Killer Escape 3 picks up. It suits players who finished the first game and want more of its grim, gory escape rooms.

How to play Killer Escape 2

  1. Open Killer Escape 2 on Newgrounds and press play; it runs in the browser through Newgrounds' Flash player.
  2. Click around each scene to look closer at things and pick them up.
  3. Open the inventory, choose an item and click where you want to use it.
  4. Read the files and notes you find; they hold clues as well as the story.
  5. Use the computer by typing questions and codes, and work your way to the way out.

Tips

  • If the computer will not answer, try typing help.
  • Look closely at dark corners; small items can blend into the background.
  • Play Killer Escape first; the story carries straight on from it.
  • Expect at least one jump scare.

Questions

Can you still play Killer Escape 2?

Yes. It is free on Newgrounds, which runs the Flash game in the page with its own player; no plug-in is needed.

Who made Killer Escape 2?

Psionic (Psionic3D), the Newgrounds artist behind Killer Escape and the Ghostscape games, in 2013.

Is Killer Escape 2 gory?

Yes. Its rooms are blood-soaked, the killer works with dental and surgical tools, and there is at least one jump scare.
