About Lucid Cats

Lucid Cats is a co-op horror game from Kolide Studio, released on Steam on 25 September 2026. You and up to three friends play small cat-headed figures in pyjamas and shirts who fall asleep together and wake in a shared dream. Lobbies are invite-only through Steam, with no public matchmaking, and you can also play alone.

Each night is a run. The dream is laid out differently every time: dim hallways, red stairwells over chequered floors, snowy streets of brick houses, a room with a toy train. Valuables are credited to you as soon as you pick them up, but you only keep them if you meet the quota and find the dream exit. A clock counts the hours toward the end of the night, and a lucidity meter and a stamina bar sit in the corner. Die in the dream and you wake with nothing.

Your laptop is the main tool. The screenshots show it running a map, a valuables tracker, an entity list, teleport and live security cameras that flag motion. You talk over proximity voice chat, so a friend who wanders off is only a faint voice, and you rely on each other to steer through rooms you have never seen.

The fear is in what waits there: a huge pair of floating teeth in a dark alley, a pale mask watching from the top of the stairs, clusters of eyes on a red wall. Players compare it to Lethal Company and R.E.P.O., with a dreamcore look in place of factories and moons. At launch players also report bugs and say the loop gets repetitive, so it suits groups who enjoy quota extraction games and liminal spaces and do not mind an early, cheap release.

How to play Lucid Cats

1. Host a lobby and invite up to three friends through Steam, or start alone.
2. Fall asleep to enter the night's dream, which is generated fresh each time.
3. Explore and pick up valuables; watch the quota counter and the clock.
4. Open your laptop to check the map, track valuables, see entities and watch security cameras.
5. Talk over proximity voice chat to split up and guide each other.
6. Find the dream exit with the quota met before the night ends, or lose what you collected.

Tips

• Use the laptop's cameras to see what is in a room before you walk into it.
• Keep an eye on stamina so you can still run when something appears.
• Players say some monsters stop moving while you look at them, so keep watching those as you back away.
• Do not over-stay: dying or missing the exit loses the whole night's haul.
