Slendrina: Asylum is part of the Slendrina series by Dennis Vukanovic, the Swedish developer who publishes as DVloper and made Granny. It came out in 2017, and on Google Play it has more than five million downloads; its store page recommends it to players who liked Slendrina: The Cellar and House of Slendrina.

The setting moves to an abandoned asylum: long tiled corridors with green-painted walls, a dining hall with a long table, brick rooms with barred windows and heavy doors. The store says Slendrina is more evil than usual, as if she were protecting something, so you have to be careful when you turn around.

This game adds a second threat and a way to deal with it. Slendrina's mother, an old woman with grey hair in a bloodied white gown, wanders the corridors. If you see her, the store says, run, and hide in a closet or behind something before she sees you. A health bar shows how hurt you are, and health potions hidden around the asylum restore some of it.

Your goal is to find eight pages of an old medical book, with keys for the locked doors along the way. It is free with ads. It suits players of the earlier Slendrina games who want more hiding, and players of Granny who want to see where its maker started.

How to play Slendrina: Asylum

1. Explore the asylum and find the eight pages of the old medical book; a counter tracks them.
2. Pick up keys to open locked doors.
3. When Slendrina's mother appears, run and hide in a closet or behind furniture before she sees you.
4. Be careful when you turn around: Slendrina can be right behind you.
5. Drink the health potions you find when your health bar runs low.

Tips

• Note where the closets are in each corridor so you have somewhere to hide.
• Save health potions for when your health bar is low.
• Move away as soon as Slendrina appears instead of staring at her.
