The Beast Inside is a first-person survival horror thriller from Illusion Ray. About The Beast Inside

The Beast Inside was made by Illusion Ray and released on Steam in October 2019, with a Metacritic score of 74. Its makers call it a twist on thriller and survival horror, built with photogrammetry and 3D-scanned objects for a realistic look.

In Boston in 1979, Adam, a CIA cryptanalyst, leaves the city with his wife Emma for a house in the woodland to work on a military code that may change the course of the Cold War. The place turns out to be anything but peaceful. In the attic Adam finds the diary of Nicolas Hyde, a 19th-century resident of the same house, and once opened it carries the nightmares of the past into Adam's time.

You play both men, in two stories that grow closer until they crash together. You explore Blackstone, the forgotten domain of Hyde's family, solve mysteries, collect clues, and in the worst moments use a trusted revolver to shoot your way out; a top-hatted figure, bloody messages on the walls and chained, tortured men wait in the dark. Its makers say you decide how the story ends.

The store page warns of strong language, violence, gore and abuse. It suits players who like story-led survival horror in an old house with a mystery to unravel.
