About JR's

JR's is a Five Nights at Freddy's fan game created by darroc and Ramenov and released free for Windows on Game Jolt in August 2022. Its name comes from the JR's restaurant in the Midnight Motorist minigame of Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator. The final version, 1.4.1, came out on August 28, 2023, as a zip of about 1 GB, and the Game Jolt page is now shared with JR's: Enter The Flipside, an official full 3D remaster and expansion in Unreal Engine 5 that the JR's Team is still making. The page you download from offers the original 2022 game.

The set-up comes from a letter: the slip-ups at JR's have become too frequent to ignore, so the place is closing while a proper investigation is held, and you are the one let in to look. A passive spirit called Paulbear greets you and becomes your companion. Each night a select few of the old animatronic suits are haunted, and your job is to work out which ones, by searching for clues and hints. Between nights you can explore The Barrens, a limbo between life and death, to learn more of the story.

Most of a night is spent on the cameras. The haunted animatronic gives itself away: a camera flickers, turns by itself or goes offline when it is in view, or the animatronic is missing from where it should be. Every animatronic's stability falls over time and it will attack you if it reaches zero, so you call them in one at a time for repairs, swapping in new parts; call in the possessed one and it gets you at once. A night ends when you have named the haunted animatronic enough times, not at 6 AM, and the last night drops the investigation for a Five Nights at Freddy's 2 style fight to survive.

Fan wikis note that players and YouTubers praised its realistic graphics and atmosphere, and that it mixes photorealistic restaurant rooms with low-poly 3D in The Barrens and claymation cartoons on VHS tapes. It suits Five Nights at Freddy's fans who want a fan game built on deduction rather than only doors and power.

How to play JR's

1. Download JR's (2022) from its Game Jolt page and extract the zip with WinRAR or 7-Zip to a folder before running it.
2. Each night, watch the cameras for signs of a haunting: flickers, a camera turning on its own or going dark, or an animatronic that is missing.
3. Keep the animatronics' stability up by calling them in for repairs one at a time, but never call in the possessed one.
4. Name the haunted animatronic enough times to end the night.
5. Between nights, explore The Barrens and talk to Paulbear to learn more of the story.

Tips

• You can repair only one animatronic at a time, so fix the one with the lowest stability first.
• If one animatronic never shows up on the cameras, it is likely the haunted one.
• Paulbear can help during the nights if you ask him.
• The game needs a reasonably strong PC; the makers link its system requirements from the Game Jolt page.
