What frightens Candy the cat and the other animatronics of a burger restaurant move through its pitch-dark rooms at night; you follow them on night-vision cameras and shut one of three doors when something reaches it, while every closed door drains the power you need to last until 6 AM.

Content: jumpscares, loud sounds.

The first game in Emil "Ace" Macko's Five Nights at Candy's series, one of the best known Five Nights at Freddy's fan games, free for Windows on Game Jolt. Freddy Fazbear's New Pizzeria has closed, a rival restaurant has opened, and you are its night guard, with three doors, night-vision cameras and limited power.

About Five Nights at Candy's

Five Nights at Candy's is a 2015 fan game by Emil "Ace" Macko, the start of a series that has drawn tens of thousands of followers on Game Jolt. It is a free download for Windows.

Its premise is a quiet piece of fan fiction: Freddy Fazbear's New Pizzeria has closed for good, and another restaurant is going to take its place. Candy's Burgers and Fries has its own cast, led by Candy the cat, and like every restaurant of its kind it needs a night guard.

The restaurant is completely dark at night, so its cameras have night vision: click a camera to see it, click again to light it up in green, and keep switching. Two cameras look straight at the far side of your doors, so you can see what is standing there. Your office has three doors, each with a small meter of its own above the main power gauge; the longer a door stays shut, the more power it drains, and running out is the end.

It asks for the same habits as Five Nights at Freddy's, checking, listening, rationing, but with new characters to learn, and a story that the later games of the series build on. It suits players who know the official games and want the fan series most often recommended after them.

How to play Five Nights at Candy's

  1. Download the free Windows version from the game's Game Jolt page.
  2. Click a camera to view it, then click it again to turn on night vision.
  3. Check the cameras pointed at the far side of your doors to see what is standing there.
  4. Close a door only while something is at it; each closed door drains power.
  5. Keep the power from running out and survive until 6 AM.

Tips

  • Watch the small meters above the power gauge: each shows how much one door is costing you.
  • Open doors again as soon as the threat has gone.
  • If images glitch or glow, your computer may not support Direct3D 9, as the maker notes.
