One Night at Flumpty's is a fan game by Jonochrome that its maker says began as an inside joke and grew into a trilogy with a large following. It is a free download for Windows on Game Jolt, and Clickteam sells it for iPhone and Android as part of the Fazbear Fanverse.

The set-up is Flumpty's own introduction: he is an egg, he is immune to the plot and can transcend time and space, and he has brought you to this special place so you can be friends. He hopes you are good at hiding, because he is coming after you.

You spend a single night in a cluttered office with a counter full of toys and a door and light button on each side. The camera map shows the rooms around you, where Flumpty and his companions, a clawed beaver hunched on a toilet among them, move closer while you look away. Doors keep them out but cost door power, and each character has its own way of getting in, so most first runs end by learning what one of them does.

The drawings are cartoonish and the jokes are deliberate, but the jumpscares are real and the night is hard. A Hard Boiled mode waits for those who finish. It suits fans of the first Five Nights at Freddy's who want something stranger.

How to play One Night at Flumpty's

1. Download the free Windows version from Game Jolt, or buy it on the App Store or Google Play.
2. Open the camera map and track where each character is.
3. Use the light buttons to check the doorways on each side of the office.
4. Close a door when something is there, and open it again to save door power.
5. Survive until 6 AM; then try Hard Boiled mode.

Tips

• Each character comes in its own way, so watch what each one does before you react.
• Door power is shared, so do not leave doors closed for long.
• Expect to lose the first runs: learning the cast is part of the game.
