Soon Molly and Isaac disappear, and Esther has to find them and escape the clutches of her cursed toys, in dark halls where a grinning toy face waits in a cellar doorway.
Content: mild violence, blood, disturbing themes.
Mr. Hopp's Playhouse 2 is a 2D pixel-art survival horror game by Moonbit and the prequel to Mr. Hopp's Playhouse. At Blacklands Manor Orphanage, three toys arrive in a donation box, and soon after, Esther's two friends vanish. You guide Esther through the orphanage to find them while keeping away from the cursed toys.
About Mr. Hopp's Playhouse 2
Mr. Hopp's Playhouse 2 was made by the small studio Moonbit and released in June 2021 on Steam and the App Store, and is also sold on itch.io and free on Google Play. It is a prequel to the free Mr. Hopp's Playhouse, telling where the toy rabbit came from. A stylised HD remake, Mr. Hopp's Playhouse 2 HD, followed in 2025 and is sold separately.
At Blacklands Manor Orphanage, a donation box brings three toys for Esther and her friends Molly and Isaac: a tiger they call Mr. Stripes, a panda they call Miss Bo, and a rabbit they call Mr. Hopp. Not long after, Molly and Isaac disappear, and a mystery begins to unravel around the toys and the dark history of the town of Blacklands.
You move Esther left and right through long rooms of the orphanage in pixel art: libraries, staircases, cellars and dim corridors where a nun walks the floors. A noise meter and a health bar sit at the top of the screen, and she crouches behind chairs and hides rather than fights. A grinning toy face waits in a dark cellar opening and a huge shadow reaches across a wall. There are medallions and coins to collect, and Moonbit's patch notes speak of several endings to find.
It suits players who liked the first game or toy horror such as Tattletail and Poppy Playtime, and want a 2D story with more chapters and characters. The phone versions are free with ads; on PC it is a small purchase.
How to play Mr. Hopp's Playhouse 2
- Buy it on Steam or itch.io, or install the free phone version from the App Store or Google Play.
- Walk Esther through the orphanage and follow each new objective as it appears.
- Watch the noise meter and stay out of sight; crouch behind furniture when danger comes near.
- Explore side rooms for coins and the six medallions, which the maker ties to completing the game in full.

Tips
- Move slowly in new rooms; making noise draws attention.
- Search side rooms for coins and medallions before moving the story on.
- After one ending, play again to look for the others.

The HD edition, released by Moonbit in 2025, is a stylised remake of the same story, sold as a separate game on Steam and the phone stores.
