What frightens Twelve short games modelled on 80s and 90s cult horror films: a teenager home alone every night starts getting messages from an unknown sender, a lighthouse keeper on an isolated island finds he is not alone, a clown-masked psychopath kidnaps people for deadly games, and a cursed amulet spreads mould through a farm. A few entries play the formula for crude comedy.

Trash Horror Collection by 616 GAMES bundles ten short first-person horror games and two bonus games, each inspired by 80s and 90s cult horror films and drawn in PS1-style graphics. Most are slasher and mystery stories of killers, curses and isolated places; a few, like the Poop Killer trilogy, play it for comedy.

About Trash Horror Collection

Trash Horror Collection is an anthology from the small developer 616 GAMES, released on Steam in 2022. You choose freely which of its games to play. The developer explains the name: trash horror here means the over-the-top style of 80s and 90s cult horror films, not that the games are bad.

The straight horror makes up most of it. In After Midnight, Brad is home alone every night while his mother works the hospital night shift, until strange messages arrive on his phone; it has four endings. In Endless Days, Dylan takes a six-month job keeping a lighthouse on an island whose last keeper vanished. MOLD follows a couple on an isolated farm after a mystery box brings them a cursed amulet. The Elevator puts you on a hotel's night desk with something wrong in the lift, The Island Mystery strands a fisherman alone on a desert island, The Clown's Fun has a clown-masked psychopath kidnapping people for games of life and death, and Night Revenge has a woman's would-be murderer free after 20 years and coming back for her.

The Poop Killer games are the comedy side: a killer who hunts people who do not flush, played as acid 80s horror comedy with up to four endings. Two bonus games round it out: Thursday the 12th, a homage to Friday the 13th, and TRUTH LOOP, which repeats one action while the story moves on.

All of it is in low-poly PS1-style graphics, with a filter in each game for players who do not like the pixelated look. It suits players who enjoy Puppet Combo-style VHS slashers and want many short nights of them for little money, and who do not mind the odd crude joke.

Tips

Start with the straight horror entries such as After Midnight, Endless Days or The Elevator if you want scares; the Poop Killer games are comedy.
Replay After Midnight and Poop Killer 3 to see their other endings.
Some games are much longer than others, so check the menu description before starting one late at night.
Use headphones: most of the tension comes from sound in dark rooms.
