What frightens Exploring a vanished movie studio for prize money, you fall into a flipped, alternate dimension where unearthly creatures lurk in the shadows to make sure you never see daylight again: an abandoned building haunted by stalking ghosts, a foggy cave, and bosses in each land.

Venge is a first-person horror adventure where you explore Rotnic, a movie studio that vanished into thin air, and fall into a twisted alternate dimension full of creatures and bosses. Two of its five acts are out: a short free introduction and a first act of two to five hours.

About Venge

Venge is a first-person horror adventure by Costek Games, first released on Steam in July 2020 and still being built act by act. In an effort to win some money, you go to explore a once magnificent movie studio that vanished into thin air a few years ago. After a terrible fall you find yourself trapped in a flipped, alternate dimension where unearthly creatures do everything they can to finish you.

The game changes style from land to land: an abandoned building haunted by stalking ghosts, a foggy cave you parkour through, and other places, each with its own bosses and mechanics. The store says your choices matter and that the world watches and learns from you. The screenshots show the remains of Rotnic Entertainment in neon light: grinning cartoon faces, a cheerful sun painted on a wall, a CEO's door, and creatures with too many teeth.

Only two of five acts are released. Act 0, an introduction of 10 to 30 minutes, is included free in the base game; Act 1, which the store puts at 2 to 5 hours, starts slowly in the remains of Rotnic before the dimension flips and the action picks up. Act 2 is in development.

It suits players of mascot horror such as Bendy and the Ink Machine and Indigo Park who want a darker, stranger take on a dead entertainment company.

How to play Venge

  1. Start with Act 0 to meet the protagonist and the world.
  2. Explore the remains of the Rotnic studio in Act 1 until you are pulled into the flipped dimension.
  3. Get past the stalking ghosts and the bosses of each land, each with its own rules.
  4. Make your choices with care: the store says the world watches and learns from you.

Tips

  • Act 0 is short and free with the game; play it first for the story.
  • Each land plays differently, so learn a boss's pattern before rushing it.
  • Look around the studio's ruins; the signs and posters tell its story.
