What frightens On a zookeeper's first night shift, a parasite turns some of the animals into bloodthirsty mutants; you must work out which ones are infected, using a thermal camera and close checks, make a vaccine and cure them while the mutated ones hunt you.

Content: gore, dismemberment, nudity, violence.

Zoochosis is a first-person bodycam horror game by Clapperheads about a zookeeper's first night shift. Between feeding and cleaning, you find that a parasite is turning animals into monsters; you must identify the infected, make a vaccine and cure them, while the mutants try to kill you.

About Zoochosis

Zoochosis is made and published by the studio Clapperheads. It came out on Steam in September 2024, on the Epic Games Store and PlayStation in August 2025 and on Xbox in October 2025.

It is your first night shift as a zookeeper. The work is real work: choose and prepare meals for each animal, restock, clean up after them in the enclosures, pat the panda. But something is wrong. A parasite is spreading through the zoo, and some animals are turning into grotesque, bloodthirsty versions of themselves. The penguin may still be a penguin; the giraffe may not.

You have tools to tell: a thermal camera that shows each animal's temperature, close inspection, and the clues the zoo has left behind. Once you know what the infection is, you can make a vaccine and cure the animals, or not. The mutated ones break loose and stalk the dark service tunnels, and the bodycam look, grainy and timestamped, makes every encounter feel caught on tape. Which animals you save, and whether you survive, decides which of the many endings you reach.

Players are divided: it is one of the most talked-about job horror games of recent years, and its Steam reviews are Mixed. The store warns of gore, dismemberment, nudity and intense violence. It suits players who liked The Mortuary Assistant or Happy's Humble Burger Farm and want a night job that turns monstrous.

How to play Zoochosis

  1. Buy Zoochosis on Steam, the Epic Games Store, PlayStation or Xbox and start your first shift.
  2. Do the keeper's work: prepare food, feed the animals, restock and clean the enclosures.
  3. Watch the animals for signs of infection, using the thermal camera and close checks.
  4. Work out the cause, make a vaccine and cure the infected animals you choose to save.
  5. Stay away from the mutants that break loose, and survive the night to reach an ending.

Tips

  • Check every animal's temperature on the thermal camera before you go into its enclosure.
  • Learn each animal's normal behaviour early in the shift so changes stand out.
  • Your choices about which animals to save change the ending, so a second shift can play out differently.
