What frightens A grinning cartoon tomato in a bright kitchen welcomes you as his buddy and asks you to feed him, keeping score of points and of his anger. The maker's own page crosses out words like dying and stay alive, warns the game can be finished only once, and tags it creepy, creepypasta and exe: the cheerful game is a front for something that turns on you.

Mr. TomatoS is a short creepypasta-style horror game by OXTORD games, made to look like an old flash game. A cheerful cartoon tomato asks you to feed him with food, a blender and items from a shop, while an anger meter climbs whenever you get it wrong. It can be finished only once, takes about half an hour, and is pay what you want on itch.io for Windows.

About Mr. TomatoS

Mr. TomatoS is a Windows game by OXTORD games, made in Clickteam Fusion in the style of the flash games once played in a browser: thick black outlines, loud pink and blue backgrounds and a title screen with a big smiling tomato. Its page greets you in his voice, glad that someone has come to visit at last, and promises endless fun.

The play is simple at first. Mr. TomatoS sits on a kitchen counter and has not eaten for ages, since he has no hands. You give him food, combine two products in the blender, use items to help, and earn points to spend in his shop, where scissors, a torch, a radio and a kitchen knife wait. Two meters sit at the top of the screen: your points, and his anger.

The fear is in the gap between that bright surface and what leaks through it. On the maker's own page the friendly words are struck through and replaced, so that dying becomes losing and stay alive becomes win, and the tags read creepy, creepypasta, exe and surreal. You are told to manage your resources well unless you want to make him angry, and that you can complete the game only once: there is no second chance, and how it ends depends on you.

A second download, MrTomatoS++, is for those who pay 5 dollars or more and lets you reset your progress after finishing to reach more endings. It suits players who liked games that pose as something cute and turn, such as Bloodmoney or Andy's Apple Farm, and want one that is over in an evening.
